plans and billing
three plans, one machine. a plan sets how much your agent can do in a day, never which computer it gets. the price you sign up at is the price you keep.
every plan gets the same computer. what a plan changes is your agent's daily allowance: how much work it can do before it pauses until tomorrow. this page lists the prices, explains the unit they are measured in, and states the one billing rule we are proudest of: your price does not move after you subscribe.
what are the plans?
| plan | all-inclusive | bring your own key | daily allowance | |---|---|---|---| | Starter | $49.99 a month | $35.99 a month | 600 units | | Pro | $129.99 a month | $49.99 a month | 1,000 units | | Power | $349.99 a month | $119.99 a month | 2,500 units |
all-inclusive means we supply the model capacity: your agent thinks with our keys and the cost is inside your subscription. bring your own key means you supply your own Anthropic API key and pay Anthropic directly for what your agent uses, so we charge less for the rest.
these prices match the checkout. if you see a different number anywhere on instaclaw.io, the checkout is right and we want to know about the other one.
what is a unit?
a unit is a share of your agent's daily thinking. each message your agent sends to a model costs a number of units that depends on which model it used. the dashboard shows the cost of every model before you pick one; the three most people see are:
| model | units per message | |---|---| | a fast, light model | 1 | | a balanced model | 4 | | the heaviest model | 10.5 |
your agent picks the model itself, message by message, unless you pin one. a quick question goes to the light model. a long piece of analysis goes to a heavier one. so 600 units is not 600 messages: it is a day's budget that stretches or shrinks with how hard your agent has to think.
what actually changes between plans?
more usage, not a bigger computer. Pro's daily allowance is about 1.6 times Starter's, and Power's is four times Starter's. that is the whole difference. Power does not get a faster machine, more memory or more storage, because there is one machine and every agent gets it. if you ever read a sentence from us implying otherwise, it is wrong.
pick Starter for an agent you talk to through the day. pick Pro for days when it is doing real work rather than answering questions. pick Power when it is running several things at once.
what happens when the allowance runs out?
your agent tells you, and it pauses until the allowance resets the next day. nothing is lost: its memory, its files and anything it was in the middle of are still on its machine. it simply stops thinking until it has budget again. if you hit the limit often, that is the signal to move up a plan.
when is "the next day"? the day turns over at midnight in the time zone on your account, not at midnight UTC; if you have not set one, we use US Eastern. an older page of ours said UTC, and it was wrong.
if you need more today, the billing page sells packs of extra units that are added straight away and spent after your daily allowance, so a pack is never used while free units remain.
is there anything else on the price list?
one thing: the Video Creator Plan, $44.99 a month for 42 premium videos a month, no rollover, cancel any time, bought from the videos page and separate from the plans above. videos has the whole of it, including what every plan already includes before you would want it.
will my price go up?
no. the price you subscribe at is the price you keep, for as long as you keep the subscription. when we change our prices, we change them for people who sign up after that day. everyone already subscribed stays on what they signed up for.
this is not a promise we make with copy. it is how the billing is built: your subscription holds a reference to the exact price you chose, and that price stays on file. people who subscribed at earlier prices are still paying those earlier prices today.
how do i switch plans or cancel?
from the dashboard at instaclaw.io. switching plans takes effect on your next bill. cancelling stops the next charge, and your agent's machine is deactivated when the subscription ends; privacy and your data says what happens to what was on it.
what this page does not cover
whether unused units carry over to the next day. we have not published a rule on that, so do not plan around one either way. and this page does not describe what your agent can spend from its own wallet, because that is switched on for a small number of agents so far and is not yet something every reader has.
what next
- your agent's computer: the machine every plan gets, with the numbers
- bring your own key: the lower prices when your own key pays for the model
- heartbeat: the background check, with its own daily pool
- videos: the premium videos each plan includes
- referrals: 25% off a friend's first month, and $10 to you
- pricing: the same prices, with the checkout
- how your agent thinks: which model answers, and what a unit buys
